PROSTaid exists to raise funds to assist local hospitals and clinics in the acquisition of innovative, new equipment and facilities for projects undertaken specifically to advance the range and nature of treatments and care available for prostate cancer sufferers. We are particularly keen to fund minimally-invasive treatments not yet routinely available in this country.
PROSTaid received £3,000 from Stuart Berry, who won the Leicestershire First Award for Volunteering, with the money going to help fund brachytherapy radiation treatment, laparoscopic (‘keyhole’) surgery and to explore how the charity could fund palliative care specifically for prostate cancer patients. An additional £1500 was given by Tony Graves, winner of the Arts and Music Award.
