Courage Award 2008/2009
And Courage Award winner Michael Higgs won for risking his life to pull a woman from a burning car after a road accident. Michael was caught up in the aftermath of a road traffic accident at night on a country road which left a vehicle on fire. Michael walked into the flames and released a trapped driver. Michel insists he is not a hero, was not courageous and simply did what needed to be done. But the Police take a different view, saying that were it not for the selfless and courageous actions of Michael Higgs, a fatality would have occurred and a husband and family would be without a wife and mother. Michael donated his prize to Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital.
