In 2012/13 Leicestershire First has given grants to a number of great groups in Leicestershire, all carrying out brilliant work within our local community.
Read on for full details of what Leicestershire First supported in 2012/13:
Saffron Young Peoples Project
The group was able to deliver a sports project for five months that offered weekly multi gym sessions for young people and a girl’s weekly football session.
The Cook e-learning Foundation
The Cooke e-Learning Foundation used their grant to train 76 young people in Beaumont Leys in the management of their personal finances. Users learned how to create budgets and saving plans and how to open a bank account.
Sir John Moore Foundation
The group ran a training programme for young people in sound engineering, music & media production, and event management. It enabled young people to gain useful and practical experience.
The Laura Centre
The Laura Centre were able to fund a Family Counsellor for 12 months for children and young people in Leicestershire & Rutland.
The group used the well needed funding to train a pool of volunteers to drive minibuses. Training also involved learning about the needs of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder so that support services are more accessible to families unable to travel independently.
